After nearly a decade away, legendary NZ electronic act Minuit are back – and bringing their iconic live show home.
Fronted by the enigmatic Ruth Carr, with Ryan Beehre and Paul Dodge on beats and basslines, Minuit (minwee - French for 'midnight') formed in Nelson during the late 90s, and went on to become a must-see live act through the 2000s.
Over the following decade, the trio toured their synths and samplers from Helsinki to Hanoi crafting their own refreshing sound – storming The Crystal Method's club night in LA, the FabricLive birthday bash in London, and headlining the Hanoi Music Festival in Vietnam. Along with festivals and shows up and down Aotearoa.
These reunion performances will pay tribute to classic tunes from all four albums 'The Boy with the Aubergine Hair', 'Except You', 'Fuji', 'Menace', ‘Aotearoa’, ‘I Hate Guns’, ‘A Room Full of Cute’, 'Last Night You Saw This Band', ‘25 Bucks’ – everything gets a look in, plus a couple of other surprises.
This won’t be a normal theatre show, we’re bringing in extra PA & lighting and clearing out the front section of seats at the Theatre Royal to turn this into a full dance event.
Plus, we have a full Nelson lineup with Funk'n SloCuts & MC Kyla, Kennedy, and guests as support; Grellis & RAGE Noise running the PA; Antony Hodgson looking after the lighting and projection – and you!
Expect energy. Expect nostalgia. Expect to move.
